CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Did you know that Carpal Tunnel is one of the most frequently mis-diagnosed conditions that chiropractors help with? It is also a condition that is commonly sent to surgery.

What most surgeons don’t tell you before the surgery is that the biomechanics of your hand will be forever changed, and complications from the surgery are very common, and often involve more surgery. The satisfaction of carpal tunnel surgery patients is low due to failure to completely resolve symptoms and complications from surgery leading to more medical interventions. Something that is frequently missed in the carpal tunnel diagnosis is the presence of “double crush” syndrome, or pinching of the medial nerve and its roots at other locations. This can happen in the nerve root at the spine, in the brachial plexus, the shoulder, and the elbow and forearm. Checking and releasing the nerve at all these sites with active release technique or myofascial release can be a very effective non-surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. In cases where symptoms are bilateral, there is almost always some involvement of the cervical spine that is best addressed by a chiropractor.

Our Carlsbad chiropractic office specializes in non-surgical carpal tunnel treatment, which often involves treatment to areas besides the wrist and hand. Our approach is very cost effective, safe, and has much fewer complications than surgery.   Schedule a no-charge consultation to see if your case is likely to respond to conservative treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.
